Our latest conference will explore the realm of the occult through carnal pleasure both as a means and as an end. How do spirituality, esotericism and mysticism relate to earthly delights? Is hedonism reframed as a central in contrast to the more conventionally accepted ascetism of spirituality? Many occultists in the course of years took advantage of the power of sex attributing inherent mystical qualities to both orgasm and sexual fluids. Neopaganism also explores combinations of Hedonism with spirituality in the pursuit of connection with nature and the acceptance of animal instincts.
The ancient traditions were replete of festivities such as the Baccanalia with their achievement of frenzy, Saturnalia and Canivals where natural hierarchical orders were overthrown in the worshiping of the Numinous. The achievement of pleasure is a strong component to the practice of occultism. A warning for the neophyte but also a grandiose attractor for the possibilities of controlling one’s universe. We will explore the meaning of Hedonism how it relates to ecstasy and bliss. We will research mephistopelian contracts and practices to gain advantage over others. We will address the spiritualization of the senses and their underlining philosophical currents.
